 | Here is how it all unfolded...
I’d made plans to go home the weekend of Mother’s Day, which also happened to be the weekend that I was going to give my cousin Lynette her bridal shower. This particular weekend, James decided to stay in Colorado. Upon arriving home, my cousin Aishah and I went to decorate for the bridal shower. While we were decorating Aishah asked me if I would mind going to her best friend's graduation dinner with her after the shower. I said, “Sure. I’d love to go.”
The next day, after the shower, we headed downtown to Morton's Steakhouse for her friend's dinner. I was so excited. This just happened to be one of the restaurants I’d been looking forward to going to. When we arrived, it was pouring rain. Consequently, our feet got soaked as we stepped in the huge puddles of water to make it into the restaurant. Once we were seated at our table, Aishah went to the restroom to get some paper towels for us. She brought me a few and then proceeded to head back to the restroom to grab some for herself (Well……that’s what I thought). Needless to say, she never returned. While I sat and waited for her to return, I begin to look over the menu. Shortly after, I felt a hand on my back. I looked up, and to my surprise, it was James! I smiled but, quickly put him on the witness stand because he was still supposed to be in Colorado. As I continued to ask him questions, he walked around to the other side of me and got down on one knee. The questions abruptly stopped, and my mouth dropped. I immediately became overwhelmed with emotion. As he presented me with a georgous ring, my eyes begin to water as he said, "Shunquea. I Love You…Will You Marry Me?" Not being able to speak but, filled with awe and excitement, I shook my head yes as the entire restaurant clapped. I called my mom to share the news with her. Little did I know, but later found out that she was in on it too.
I want to give a special thanks to my cousin Aishah. She really had me fooled. So, cousin thanks for helping James make this an unforgettable experience. I've never been so surprised in my life. I love you!
